Excuse me mam...your baby fell over.

Let me explain. And don't judge me. Michael usually switches the carseats depending on which care he needs for work. He hasn't been strapping the seat down because his hands are to big to push the belt through the back of the car seat, so he puts the seat in the car and I'll strap it in later. Well, I showed him yesterday a way for him to strap it in without having to put your hand through the back. So, today I just assumed that he had strapped it in since he could now, and I didn't even think to check if it was. I strapped him in, drove to McDonald's to get an Iced Caramel Coffee (so good!), and as I paid the lady, she smiled at me and then looked in the back seat. Now this happens every time, and the lady at the window will say something like, "Oh, how sweet." He is so beautiful", "What a cutie", etc. That is what I expected today. Instead, the lady, looking at me with this sheepish grin says, "Excuse me mam, your baby fell over." I frantically turn around to find Royal, strapped securely in his car seat, but not his car seat strapped securely to the seat. The whole thing was laying on it's side and he was just there, with his paci in his mouth and his hands together. His expression was like, "What? I always ride like this." It freaked me out completely. But, I think that was what was so funny He had no problem with it. Luckily I happened to be on the phone with Michael at the time, so I exclaimed, "Honey, you didn't buckle the seat in?" He was laughing and felt so bad. But, the way everything happened made the situation so funny. Like I said, don't judge me. I still feel terrible. Good thing I wasn't driving down the interstate. I felt so mortified, like the worst mother, but Michael made me promise to blog about this, knowing that it has happened to other parents out there. So, have a good laugh. Your welcome.

I'm sorry. I know that's unsafe, but I have to admit, that is hilarious! I wish you had a picture of him looking at you like that! Had no idea! I'm also very thankful that nothing bad happened.

Agreed...so funny! And yeah, I have gone places and realized that my kids weren't buckled in to their seats. I caught Eloise leaning all the way forward, about to fall out and I had to pull over on the side of the road. You fell like such a bad parent, but thank the Lord nothing went wrong!
